Odyssée table lamp: exclusivity for jamais assez boutique
A graceful moment fixed in momentum
In response to a request from interior designer Genevieve Cyr, I am created Odyssee, a table lamp that embodies curves and movement.
Owner of boutique jamais assez, Genevieve Cyr wanted to offer her clientele a lamp that was unique. To realize her vision, she turned to me to design with her a truly singular object that is off the beaten tracks.
A mixture of industrial design and ceramics, Odyssee is captivating with its astonishing base created via moulding. Its clearly defined ridges are softened by diagonal curves, but also by the warm texture of the lampshade’s linen, whose perfect proportions were developed by Genevieve.
By virtue of its name, Odyssee is a nod to the work of Stanley Kubrick and a way to connect the past and the future. Its aesthetics, colors and shape are an homage to the late Michel Swift, one of the most well-respected industrial designers in Quebec and a strong advocate of applied design that can transcend eras.
Michel Swift - 1995
Available in two colors - Eclipse (satin blue) and Lunaire (mat white) - this lamp is offered exclusively at boutique jamais assez, which was co-founded by Michel Swift and Genevieve Cyr to showcase the best that international design has to offer.
*The miniature version pieces were made to test the concept of the mold before proceeding with the large format. Should we make a mini version? Let us know!
